Newborn Baby Clothes
Having a baby can be the most exciting, and stressful time of your life. No matter if it is your first child or your fifth, buying clothes for that new little bundle of joy can be confusing with all the new styles and trends out there. We’ve listed a few essentials here that no new mother should do without when buying for a newborn baby.
1. Sleeping Gowns. No matter if you have a boy or a girl, these are a must. These gowns allow for quick and easy nappy changes at night, without the fuss of snaps, buttons or having to completely undress your baby. Because there is less fussing about, your baby will be more likely to go back to sleep after having a nappy change, especially if he has a full tummy.
2. Onesies, Anyone who has had a baby knows the usefulness of this item. An onesie is a short or long sleeved shirt that snaps in the nappy area, also known as an infant bodysuit. These are great for everyday wear and are generally inexpensive, which makes them great for feeding time, and of course nappy time. They come in a variety of patterns, colors and styles, so they easily fit into any wardrobe.
3. Receiving Blankets, though technically, these are not baby clothing items, a new mother can never have enough receiving blankets. These thin, colorful blankets add a quick layer of warmth on a cool morning, are a great cover up during an emergency clothing change and make a newborn baby feel safe and protected when swaddled.
Each of these newborn baby clothing items will vary in cost, depending on where you purchase them (Supermarkets vs. department stores) and this varies the quality of the clothing item itself.
We suggest having many inexpensive utility items for everyday use, and several nice ones for going out. Don’t expect to be able to enjoy your new baby clothes for more than a couple of months as newborns grow quickly. This is why most baby clothing is labeled by age and not size. For this reason, a lot of mothers will offer you second hand baby clothes, because they are generally outgrown before they wear out.
