• You need a hat to keep warm as you lose at least 20% of your body heat from your head; more or less depending upon your hair style and thickness...for example bald men lose the most heat.
• Everyone should know that your Panama hat is actually a hat from Equador. These hats were named “Panama” as workers on the Panama Canal wore them. The Americans that named them thought the workers were wearing local hats.
• Since 1985 hat sales have increased by 15% a year, it was in the mid 80's that the baseball hat came into fashion and its never gone away since. What does yours say?

Ryan Giggs is always seen out and about in a sporty baseball cap.
Mrs Thatcher as well as being famous for being Britain’s first woman prime minster was also seen wearing a blue hat on state business.
The Queen is hardly ever seen in public these days without a hat on her royal head, hats off to the queen.
Old hat days
In the old days brims on hats were bound with ribbon for the reason to stop them fraying at the edges.
Yankee doodle stuck a feather in his cap because when men went off to flight it was customary for men to wear a feather in their hat representing love from their woman.
Cowboys look cool in their hats; they were designed to keeping their heads cool in the hot sun and were traditionally made out of leather. Today they are seen as fashion hats and are worn mainly by women.
Hats are mainly fashionable items these days. Man’s suit with a top hat was formerly an indispensable piece of the suit and most women have more than one summer hat.
